Salary: £42,000 – £47,000 per year\nLocation: Exeter and Plymouth (covering the Devon area)\nContract: Full-time, permanent\nTravel: Car and full UK driving licence required\n\nAbout the Role\n\nAn established housing and property management organisation is seeking a Maintenance Surveyor to join its Property Services Team, working from the Exeter Hub and covering the Devon locality. The role involves investigating, diagnosing, and resolving day-to-day maintenance issues, as well as providing technical support to in-house trades teams and external contractors.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n * \n\n Carry out inspections before, during, and after repair works\n\n * \n\n Prepare detailed specifications, including scope of works, quantities, budgets, and timelines\n\n * \n\n Ensure works are completed safely, efficiently, and to the required standard\n\n * \n\n Maintain accurate data within property management systems\n\n * \n\n Build strong local knowledge of customer needs, assets, and investment priorities\n\n * \n\n Monitor and support contractors to deliver quality outcomes\n\n * \n\n Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation\n\nCandidate Requirements\n\n * \n\n Knowledge of technical, statutory, and regulatory requirements for maintenance services\n\n * \n\n Experience preparing and interpreting specifications and schedules of work\n\n * \n\n Strong planning, tracking, and forecasting skills\n\n * \n\n Commercial awareness with a customer-focused approach\n\n * \n\n Proficiency in IT systems, including Microsoft Office (Intermediate Excel)\n\n * \n\n Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel\n\n * \n\n Ability to pass a basic DBS check\n\nBenefits\n\n * \n\n 25 days holiday plus bank holidays (increasing to 30 with service)\n\n * \n\n 3 wellbeing days and 2 paid volunteering days each year\n\n * \n\n Pension scheme with up to 12% employer match and 4x salary life cover\n\n * \n\n Flexible working arrangements\n\n * \n\n Optional private medical, dental, and critical illness cover\n\n * \n\n Discounted travel insurance
