About the Role:

The Maintenance Pool Tech plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, cleanliness, and optimal operation of aquatic facilities at the University Club of Memphis. This position is responsible for the routine maintenance and repair of pool equipment, water quality management, and adherence to health and safety regulations. The Maintenance Pool Tech works closely with Club management to schedule and perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and respond promptly to any operational disruptions. By maintaining high standards of pool hygiene and functionality, this role directly contributes to providing a safe and enjoyable environment for all patrons. Ultimately, the Maintenance Pool Tech supports the overall success of the Club by ensuring that all aquatic systems operate efficiently and reliably at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of pool maintenance, water chemistry, and mechanical systems.
  • Experience working with pool equipment such as pumps, filters, and chemical feeders.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, and working in various weather conditions.
  • Valid driver’s license and/or reliable transportation.

Qualifications:

  • Certification in pool operation or maintenance (e.g., Certified Pool Operator - CPO).
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance standards for public aquatic facilities.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily inspections and maintenance of pool equipment including pumps, filters and chemical feeders to ensure proper operation.
  • Test and balance pool water chemistry daily to maintain safe and compliant water quality standards.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and electrical issues related to pool systems promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, water testing results, and repairs performed.
  • Collaborate with facility management and other maintenance staff to schedule preventative maintenance and address any facility-related concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal health and safety regulations related to pool operation.
  • Assist in the setup and breakdown of pool-related equipment for special events or seasonal changes.

Skills:

The Maintenance Pool Tech utilizes technical skills daily to inspect, maintain, and repair pool systems, ensuring all equipment functions efficiently and safely. Knowledge of water chemistry is applied to regularly test and adjust chemical levels, maintaining a healthy swimming environment. Mechanical aptitude is essential for troubleshooting and fixing pumps, filters, and heaters, minimizing operational disruptions. Communication skills are important for coordinating with management and other staff to schedule maintenance and report issues clearly. Additionally, adherence to safety protocols and regulatory standards is critical to protect both patrons and the facility.
