Summary

Under the supervision of the Machine Shop Supervisor performs a wide variety of mechanical repairs and equipment maintenance in the Machine Shop and in the various production departments. This position reports directly to the Machine Shop Supervisor.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Makes adjustments or repairs, as assigned and scheduled daily inspections by specific and general oral instructions, to pumps, compressors, belting, drivers, blowers or other mechanical equipment.

  • Does routine lay out work such as measuring and marking location points for drilling or for positioning brackets and frame work.

  • Dismantles mechanical equipment for major overhaul or maintenance service, makes repairs, makes brackets, replaces repaired part, or new part, or part which has had major repair, assembles roll ends using torch, (does minor welding), and reassembles equipment.

  • Sets up and operates single spindle drill presses, power hacksaws, portable drills and grinders.

  • Uses (oxy-acetylene and electric resistance welders), a variety of mechanic’s hand tools, such as hammers, chisels, wrenches, drills and files, etc.

  • Occasionally fabricates frame work and metal supports.

  • Assists or work under direction of Machinist installing new equipment – or performing major repair work.

  • Operates forklift, tow truck, or aerial lift as required.

  • Maintains work area in a clean and orderly condition.

  • May be assigned to any shift as needed.

  • Performs other duties as directed.

  • Individuals will be required to work overtime as necessary.

     

  • Education and/or Experience

  • High School Diploma

  • Experience in a manufacturing or factory environment

  • 5+ years of related experience

  • Fork Lift Certification

     

  • Must pass a drug screen, physical and criminal background check

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States

  • Able to work various times during day, night or weekend hours

     

  • Fluency in English

  • May require sitting or standing for extended periods of time

  • Able to move/carry objects up to 50 lbs
