Maintenance Mechanic

Location: Springfield, NJ
Schedule: Full-Time | On-site

Job Summary

A well-established manufacturing facility in Springfield, NJ is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to support production operations by maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing manufacturing equipment. This role is critical to minimizing downtime and ensuring equipment operates safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on production and facility equipment

• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems

• Diagnose equipment failures and implement effective solutions

• Repair and maintain conveyors, motors, pumps, gearboxes, and automated machinery

• Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals

• Conduct equipment inspections to identify potential issues before failures occur

• Assist with installation, setup, and modification of machinery

• Maintain accurate maintenance logs and documentation

• Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment

• Collaborate with production and engineering teams to improve equipment reliability

Qualifications & Skills

• 2+ years of experience as a Maintenance Mechanic in a manufacturing or industrial environment

• Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on troubleshooting experience

• Working knowledge of electrical systems (motors, sensors, control panels )

• Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems

• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment

• Basic welding or fabrication experience is a plus

• Ability to read mechanical drawings and schematics

• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

• Ability to stand, lift up to 50 lbs., and work in an industrial environment

Experience

• Manufacturing, packaging, or plastics industry experience

• PLC troubleshooting exposure (not required, but a plus)

• Preventive maintenance program experience
