As an individual, the incumbent must understand the Food Safety Statement, complete the required training, perform work assignments in accordance with training and display an acceptable level of competency with all Quality Assurance/Safety/Security policies and training requirements. Areas of food safety training will include, but are not limited to, GMP, HACCP, facility security, visitor policy and mandatory safety training.

The individual must also request additional and/or refresher training if he or she feels that it is needed to effectively perform requirements in specific areas of responsibility.

Summary:
Maintenance Mechanic D is responsible for safely maintaining, repairing, replacing and modifying all processing, packaging and facility equipment with optimal quality and efficiency.

Job Functions:

  • Operate CMMS system and demonstrate 100% functionality in order to complete work orders as well as log corrective maintenance issues in the system.
  • Effectively communicate with Production personnel and mechanics to identify problematic areas of concern; provide feedback and support.
  • Maintain equipment and perform basic mechanical tasks to keep equipment in optimal operational condition; Mechanic D is expected to repair 40% of equipment without direction.
  • Perform some electrical repairs, such as AC & DC motor controls; test equipment only if within skill range.
  • Read and understand manuals to establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Assist in troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic issues.
  • Assist in fabricating and modifying parts using shop equipment; weld utilizing stick, tig and mig welders.
  • Must understand company's objectives including productivity, food safety, quality, and best practices to achieve those goals.
  • Perform daily inspections, emergency repairs, and adjustments; follow routine and periodic preventive maintenance schedule.
  • Properly communicate any task difficulties to leaders
  • Support Process Improvement projects and safety teams.
  • Employees may infrequently be assigned to perform other tasks on a temporary basis." During the temporary assignment, the employee must still maintain compliance with all plant policies but will not be disciplined for productivity- throughput performance."
  • Responsible for actively supporting the other members of the employee's work team including assisting with cross-training, new-hire/buddy assignments, and process support during breaks, meal periods, and other staff coverage as needed.

Required Qualifications/Skills:

  • Basic business requirements such as attendance, punctuality, and good work ethic
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English
  • Ability to read and understand manuals to establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Basic PC (Personal Computer) skills
  • Must possess basic math skills: fractions, decimals, percentages, and the metric system
  • Familiarity with preventive and reliability based maintenance
  • Ability to be trained and learn new tasks
  • Certified for operating a forklift
  • Certified for operating a scissor lift or genie boom

Education/Training:
Minimum of a High School diploma/GED, some Technical School coursework, or Mechanical Certification (must have at least one of these three items to be considered
