MAINTENANCE MECHANIC
To set up, adjust, and maintain assigned equipment with responsibility for production and quality on this equipment.
Requirements:

Satisfactory work record, as determined by plant training committee

Satisfactory completion of three-year formal training program

Ability to use hand tools and trades-type tools
-
High mental and visual effort are required
-
Ability to troubleshoot any issues on machinery
-
Job involves standing most of shift
-
Willingness to work rotating shifts on a continuous, seven-day cycle
Duties:
-
Analyzes mechanical and operational problems on assigned equipment and plans for and takes corrective action. Makes necessary corrections and running adjustments to maintain maximum production and quality

Reviews production schedule with supervisors and discusses when equipment is not scheduled for manufacturing; shuts down equipment to perform scheduled maintenance

Tests equipment to check operation. Helps to clear jams and sets aside products for inspection and rework. Tries out equipment after repairs, changeovers, or extended downtime

Examines, tests, and measures product from assigned equipment for quality specifications, using gauges and instruments, and records data on appropriate forms. Checks product for visual defects

Makes preventive maintenance checks and inspections of assigned equipment, reports findings to supervisor, and takes appropriate action

Examines defects and analyzes spoilage causes and, where possible, takes corrective action. Analyzes and records causes of production delays on daily production report

Directs line operators, packers, and service personnel (such as lift truck operators) on daily scheduled maintenance, new operating procedures, and any changes to the standard requirements of machine operations

Notifies maintenance department or supervisor of recurring equipment malfunctions and corrective actions taken, and of quality problems or supplies needed

Instructs and directs any maintenance trainees assigned

May oil and grease equipment in absence of oiler and greaser

May operate equipment during relief periods

Performs product examination and rework when line is down due to causes beyond mechanic's control

Other duties as assigned
