We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic for a fast-growing Food Manufacturing Company in Braintree.

Description:

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for actively pursuing and correcting problems with automated packaging machinery and components throughout the facility. Position will maintain a Food Manufacturing Plant, Equipment, & Grounds in accordance with established Safety, Quality, Food Safety (SQF), and Food Defense standards.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, steam, water and pneumatic systems/components found in food manufacturing equipment related to all packaging, processing, filling and facility systems (industrial, refrigeration, compressed air and high-pressure steam systems, pallet jacks, pumps, heat exchanges and boilers
  • Maintain production line machinery and equipment to manufacturer's instructions and engineering specifications
  • Complete repairs of mechanical and structural components on production lines
  • Diagnose electric motor, motor control and device control problems
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical control and power circuits
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrically controlled equipment, including PLC controlled and solid-state equipment
  • Ability to Fabricate
  • Ability to weld (gas and arc) and solder
  • Ability to identify and order parts and materials from manufacturers manuals and prints
  • Complete the Standard Timing Model mechanical test with a score of 60% or better.
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications:

  • The Maintenance Mechanic must have strong mechanical aptitude and be skilled in the use of a variety of hand tools, precision hand tools and measuring instruments.
  • competencies in welding, presses, grinders, basic fabrication and PLC logic.
  • Knowledge of GMPs, Confined Space, Hot Works, Hazardous/Regulated Waste, Electrical Safety, MSDS, OSHA and other environmental regulations and procedures
  • Strong communication and decision-making skills
  • Able to speak, write and understand English
  • Able to work overtime when necessary. Flexible availability including weekends/holidays to meet production needs

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

Three+ years Maintenance experience, preferably in the food industry
