We are working with a longstanding food manufacturing company that is looking for a skilled Night Shift Maintenance Mechanic in their Central NY facility. The Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for completing assigned duties to ensure customer, team member, and vendor satisfaction by performing preventative maintenance and performing breakdowns on all production equipment. For this role you must have experience in a food or beverage manufacturing environment.

Location: Syracuse, NY region

Job Responsibilities:

  • Notify others of mechanical malfunctions to increase productivity and equipment capabilities and begin to identify areas where operators can assist in resolving concerns.
  • Carry out tasks by maintenance Shift Supervisor.
  • Perform intermediate troubleshooting of equipment problems using problem-solving skills and root cause analysis.
  • Record information in required logbooks for system history and continuous improvement.
  • Complete all documents (standard work orders/PM work orders) for the jobs you perform and submit them to the parts room clerk/designated representative.
  • Record any parts/components used for repairs to ensure replenishment of On-Hand balances are maintained.
  • Respond to maintenance calls in a timely fashion.
  • Ensure quality standards set by the company are adhered to after PMs and/or repairs are made to equipment.
  • Maintain safety practices and regulations and notify the maintenance shift supervisor of any changes.
  • Work safely, report safety concerns promptly to the supervisor/lead, and take corrective actions as necessary to ensure a safe environment.
  • Follow all Safety requirements, Housekeeping, LO/TO, Confined Space, and PPE, and engage in facility safety efforts.
  • Responsible for complying with GMPs, SOPs, corporate and/or plant policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Ensure work areas are sanitary and strictly adhere to sanitation practices.
  • Communicate effectively between shifts and other departments.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • GED or High School diploma (Technical training or electrical/mechanical technician degree ).
  • 3+ years’ experience within the mechanical field in food or beverage manufacturing (dairy ).
  • Experience with programmable logic controllers, instruments, and controls.
  • Ability to report to work at scheduled times and communicate tardiness and absences with the assigned Supervisor/Manager ahead of time.
  • Experience working on manufacturing equipment as well as utilities (ammonia refrigeration a plus).
  • Ability to move throughout all areas of the facility including but not limited to office, production, and warehouse environments. Including the outside perimeter of the building.
  • Physically able to stand, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, lift, push, pull, climb, balance, crouch, handle, and move items weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance and move objects exceeding 50 pounds with reasonable accommodations.
