Title: Maintenance Manager
Reports to: Director of Operations

FUNCTION:
Responsible for ensuring the maintenance department meets required performance and departmental goals. The primary responsibility is to support, manage, and coordinate the required day-to-day maintenance activities on equipment and the safe efficient operations of the facility. This candidate must provide strong leadership skills and job knowledge.
ORGANIZATION:
Reports to: Director of Operations
Supervises: Directly - 6 Maintenance Technicians
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
- Keeps all primary production equipment functioning properly.
- Ensures the high standards of safety are met and maintained at the facility.
- Coordinates maintenance activities through teamwork with departmental supervisors to ensure the total manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Assist in coordinating day-to-day plant operations, upcoming outages and emergencies related to facility maintenance. This requires availability for calls during off-shift hours.
- Monitor and control supplies and equipment; order supplies and tools as necessary; prepare specifications and contracts for contract services, monitor spending, and review quotes.
- Analyze potential changes in processes which generate cost savings and productivity improvement.
- Ability to direct and foster the development and implementation of reliability management practices relative to preventive, predictive, and planned maintenance through continuous improvement to achieve world class performance.
- Develop, implement, revise, and maintain policies and procedures related to the Maintenance Department including all Environmental Health and Safety aspects of the job.
- Identifies training needs, initiates development and provides feedback to subordinates.
- Responsible for preventive maintenance program to maintain production machinery and equipment in proper working condition.
- Participates in annual budget preparation as it relates to maintenance of the facility, including detailed Capitol Expense recommendations.
- Update quality control systems for criteria of ISO9000 standards.
- Inspect jobs in-progress to ensure procedures are followed to completion to ensure that standards of workmanship and safety are maintained.
- Maintains the workload and daily schedule for the facility, including adjustments for changes in work requirements.
- Required weekend duty rotation as assigned.
- Exercise HR skills by conducting interviews of prospective employees, administering discipline, and handling other personnel problems for hourly subordinates.
QUALITY SPECIFIC RESPONSBILITIES
- Is fully aware of all position-specific quality assurance responsibilities.
- Is familiar with site-wide Document Control, Internal Quality, Corrective Action, Non-Conforming Product, and Record Keeping procedures.
- Ensures that all subordinate employees are aware of and are adequately trained in quality procedures.
ENVIRONMENTAL, Health & Safety (EHS) Specific REsponsibilities
- Understands and helps implement all EPI sitewide EHS Goals and Objectives.
- Is aware of potential environmental impacts within this position’s area of responsibility and the consequences if an upset occurs.
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Train appropriate workforce to assume the maintenance manager’s job when position manager is not available
- Verbally convey timely evaluations of the employee’s performance; both positive and negative examples to help the employee learn from their experience
- Perform miscellaneous duties as requested by supervisor
QUALIFICATION CRITERIA
- A four-year college degree . Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
- Three to five years minimum experience in maintenance supervision is required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Familiarity with CMMS systems ex: SAP, Maximo, IFS, QT-9
Comments:
- Candidate should be mechanically inclined and be able to work well with others.
- Protective eyewear required. Tyvek clothing, dust mask and or respirator may occasionally be required for use.
- This position is exposed to hazardous environmental conditions from the chemicals being used in the manufacturing process and manufactured as a finished product. Also, exposure to hazardous moving equipment and machinery, electrical hazards, etc.
