Job Summary:
The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for
maintaining and repairing all mechanical equipment, systems, and components involved in brick manufacturing. The role involves regular inspection, troubleshooting, and repairs to ensure equipment reliability and minimize downtime. The Maintenance Mechanic works closely with production teams to address mechanical issues promptly and to maintain a safe working environment.
Work Schedule:
- Full-time position, Monday to Friday 7:30AM to 4PM, timing could change depending on production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect, Maintain, and Repair Equipment: Regularly inspect and perform routine maintenance on machines like kilns, extruders, conveyors, mixers, crushers, and other heavy machinery used in brick manufacturing.
- Troubleshoot and Diagnose Issues: Quickly identify the source of mechanical problems to minimize disruption and determine whether repairs can be made on-site or if replacement parts are necessary.
- Preventive Maintenance: Develop and follow a preventive maintenance schedule to reduce equipment downtime and prolong the lifespan of machinery.
- Documentation and Reporting: Record maintenance activities, repairs, and part replacements. Report major issues and assist in maintaining an inventory of parts and tools.
- Ensure Compliance with Safety Standards: Follow all safety protocols, identify potential hazards, and recommend safety improvements to ensure a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with Other Teams: Work closely with the production, engineering, and quality assurance teams to optimize equipment performance and contribute to production goals.
Essential Functions:
- Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
- Prepares and installs production machinery for a new line or process.
- Performs mechanical skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of packaging and production machines.
- Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
- Comply with OSHA safety and health rules.
Physical Requirements:
- Technical Skills: Knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical controls. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical manuals.
- Certification: Trade certification or equivalent in industrial maintenance, mechanical engineering, or a related field is a plus.
- Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs., stand for long periods, and work in varied environments (heat, dust, noise), Comfortable working in high-temperature environments.
