Under the direction of the Facilities Supervisor, perform activities to ensure the maintenance, cleanliness, and safety of the Fitness Center.
Requirements:
STARTING PAY: $15.00 - $17.00/hr DOE
(On a Step in Grade program; can receive $1.00 increase by completion of specific certifications)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:
- Assist in keeping the Fitness Center clean
- Control odors in the facility by emptying trash, changing liners, cleaning garbage cans, and hauling trash out of the building
- Clean pools and spas using pool vacuum, nets, and brushes
- Clean and disinfect pool decks using proper procedures, chemicals, and equipment
- Clean and sweep trash in parking areas, sidewalks, planters, and outdoor pool
- Assist in keeping the Fitness Center and grounds maintained
- Maintain lawns, shrubbery, trees, flowers, and grounds by mowing, edging, trimming, pruning, fertilizing, and weeding
- Maintain all facets of building maintenance including, but not limited to, carpets, wood floors, painting, patching, sealing, cement work, ceramic tile, and locker repair
- Maintain good pool and spa chemistry by checking and adjusting the PH, Chlorine PPM, HRR, ORP, Alkalinity, Calcium Hardness and TDS
- Clean and maintain pool equipment such as strainers, grids, chlorine feeders, acid pumps, and inline filters
- Assist the Facilities Supervisor and/or Facilities Manager with minor and major repairs to the facility
- Perform periodic services according to a schedule established by the Physical Facilities Supervisor or as otherwise needed or advised
- Maintain sprinkling system to irrigate lawns, shrubbery, trees, and flowers
- Make any necessary repairs to keep grounds looking good and healthy
- Start up and drain irrigation systems as weather dictates
- Maintain electrical equipment, systems, and lighting by making minor repairs as needed
- Maintain doors including closers, latches, hinges, panic bars, and keying
- Maintain HVAC equipment by watching for and reporting problems observed
- Service equipment by lubricating parts, replacing belts, replacing filters, and making minor repairs and adjustments as needed
- Clean sidewalks and parking lot of snow, using plows, snow blowers, and shovels and ensure that there is a safe pathway from the parking lot to the Facility
- Maintain plumbing by making minor repairs to showers, sinks, toilets, pumps, and urinals
- Help ensure that the Facilities Department runs smoothly
- Communicate verbally or in writing on a daily basis to the Facilities Supervisor any items needing repair or replacement (i.e., items in the building or for equipment used to perform duties)
- Perform monthly inventory and notify the Facilities Supervisor of items needed to be re-stocked
- Make recommendations for items and equipment to be purchased
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School graduate or equivalent
- At least 18 years of
- One year related experience
- A valid Utah driver’s license
- Capable of lifting 100 lbs.
- Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions
- Ability to work independently
- Knowledgeable in the types and use of machines, tools, and equipment related to maintaining a fitness center
- Ability to relate well with supervisors, subordinates, co-workers, and the general public
Desired Qualifications:
- Additional experience in the maintenance field
- Additional training courses related to maintenance
- CPO/APO certification
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Willing and available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Occasional local travel
- Light to heavy physical activity including climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, and lifting
- Work both inside and outside being subject to extreme cold and heat
- Work under hazardous conditions including high places, chemical exposures, electrical current, moving machinery, exposure to blood, etc.
- Subject to fumes, odors, dusts, gases, and poor ventilation that could affect the skin or respiratory system
