JOB SUMMARY: Performs regular maintenance and preventative maintenance duties within the Head Start Program. Assists the Maintenance and Facility Manager in day-to-day operations in accordance with Catholic Charities Westside Head Start policies and procedures, licensing regulations, Health and Safety Standard, state and federal regulations and service area plans. Coordinates and works with vendors to help troubleshoot and execute building maintenance, system repairs and upgrades. Often acts as working lead on small projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

1. Oversees the general maintenance of all facilities, equipment and grounds including but not limited to minor and routine painting, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, drywall repair.

2. Troubleshoots and executes building maintenance and systems repairs and upgrades.

3. Performs landscape maintenance as required, scheduled or needed. This includes monitoring lawn watering systems, regular weeding and tree trimming.

4. Assists Maintenance and Facilities Manager in acquiring bids and writing project scopes.

5. Assists Maintenance and Facilities Manager in submittals of Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and ranking of vendor bids.

6. Manage quarterly vehicle inspections.

7. Supports Maintenance and Facility Manager during his/her absence.

8. Responsible for obtaining materials needed for work performed. Orders and/or purchases maintenance supplies for facilities covered. Ensures agency procurement process is followed regarding documentation, purchase orders, etc.

9. Inspects facilities on a regular basis. Conducts monthly safety inspections of all facilities and completes appropriate documentation. Immediately reports issues or concerns in order to maintain facilities to meet licensing standards.

10. Utilizes knowledge of field to offer alternative options and brainstorm regarding maintenance and facilities issues with supervisor.

11. As needed, will participate in moving furniture, setting up or breaking down conference rooms for meetings, re-arranging offices.

12. Required to fulfill maintenance functions regarding.

· Plumbing abilities-re-plumb drains and redistribute pipes during rehabs.

· Electrical abilities-pull wire to redistribute and run an electrical box to another location.

· Carpentry, framing and general remodeling of a facility.

· Build concrete sidewalks, curbing and bike paths-this includes building the footers.

· Asphalt driveways and parking lots.

· Ability to operator heavy equipment, such as a backhoe for moving dirt/wood chips.

· Able to read and understand blueprints as needed for job function.

· Welding as needed.

· Drywall and painting.

· Flooring install and repair.

· Application of general construction concepts and knowledge.

13. Promote ongoing commitment to excellence and continual quality improvement to ensure the highest quality of services to our staff and clients.

14. Other duties as assigned

OTHER RELATED DUTIES:

1. Works alternative hours as required, including nights and weekends.

2. Prepares, and attends all meetings, trainings, and conferences as assigned.

3. Maintains self and functional work environment.

4. Performs other tasks as may be required for the efficient comprehensive, integrated program.
