At our Dowlow site near Buxton, we produce high-quality ground calcium carbonate products for customers across a wide range of industries. We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Fitter to join our close-knit maintenance team. Shift Pattern

\n

This role operates on a rotating shift pattern:

\n

Early Shift

\n

    \n
  • Monday: 06:00 to 16:00
  • \n

  • Tuesday to Friday: 06:00 to 14:00
  • \n

\n

Afternoon Shift

\n

    \n
  • Monday: 12:00 to 22:00
  • \n

  • Tuesday to Friday: 14:00 to 22:00
  • \n

\n

The role also participates in a 6-week standby rota, providing out-of-hours breakdown cover, including weekend daytime cover between 08:00 and 16:00. A standby allowance is paid for participation in the 1 in 6 rota.

\n

The Role

\n

As a Maintenance Fitter, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, installation, and continuous improvement of plant equipment across our mineral processing operation.

\n

Typical duties will include:

\n

    \n
  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance activities
  • \n

  • Responding to and repairing plant breakdowns safely and efficiently
  • \n

  • Diagnosing and fault finding mechanical issues
  • \n

  • Conducting inspections and reporting equipment condition
  • \n

  • Supporting continuous improvement activities
  • \n

  • Performing fabrication and repair work as required
  • \n

  • Working safely in accordance with site procedures and risk assessments
  • \n

  • Participating in confined space activities following appropriate training
  • \n

  • Supporting plant shutdowns and maintenance projects
  • \n

  • Maintaining effective communication with operations and engineering colleagues
  • \n

About You

\n

We are looking for a motivated and safety-conscious mechanical professional who enjoys working in a hands-on industrial environment.

\n

Essential

\n

    \n
  • Proven industrial mechanical maintenance experience
  • \n

  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • \n

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • \n

  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • \n

  • A proactive approach to safety and continuous improvement
  • \n

\n

 

\n

Desirable

\n

    \n
  • Time-served mechanical apprenticeship
  • \n

  • NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification
  • \n

  • Experience within quarrying, mineral processing, aggregates, cement, recycling, chemicals, heavy manufacturing, power , mining, or similar process industries
  • \n

  • Welding and fabrication experience
  • \n
