Position Summary:
The Maintenance Engineering Technician performs repairs and maintenance on all processing equipment, facility, and electrical systems in a plastic recycling/manufacturing environment. They trouble shoot PLC’s, are capable of programing and maintaining manufacturing systems within the facility. They are the go-to for SCADA, PLC, and programming resources. They ensure adherence to all safety programs for compliance with all safety, operational, maintenance, and other standards. They are responsible for documentation and reports dealing with equipment, process maintenance, performance, and safety within Maintenance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- This is a hands-on position. The Maintenance Engineering Technician must perform troubleshooting tasks for mechanical and electrical systems.
- Understands company safety practices, able to recognize and address safety concerns. Follows all plant and corporate policies and procedures in the operation of the facility and operation. Complies with all local, state, and federal regulatory requirements for operation, safety, and environmental expectations.
- Train other maintenance employees in the proper use and maintenance of electrical equipment and systems. Works to remove unsafe conditions or situations from the manufacturing facility.
- Ensures durability of equipment to include the development of preventative maintenance procedures, electrical parts inventories, and equipment in compliance with all electrical & safety standards.
- Interacts with employees to troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve electrical & equipment issues for safe and efficient operation of the equipment.
- Executes other maintenance plans to help achieve or exceed the facility’s budgeted goals.
- Performs other job-related duties as needed or assigned.
- Troubleshooting & maintaining programming Siemens SPS S7-1200 / S7-1500 / TP1500 / G120C
- Troubleshooting & diagnostics of electrical equipment, electrical drives, fuse panels, control cabinets, and electric motors.
- Performing maintenance & diagnostics with specialized electrical equipment & tools on electrical systems and equipment such as motors, transformers, switches, breakers, and fuses
- Works with contractors and third-party vendors for required inspections and testing for compliance of all electrical equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities.
- Installing electrical wiring, electrical equipment, drives, motors, or other electrical components according to plans and specifications
- Develop or revise electrical wiring in the field to include electrical cabinets.
- Knowledge and understanding of European electrical drawings.
- Understanding of electrical safety components according to the European machinery standard
- Adjusts or modifies equipment software programming through PLCs or other programs, such as FIIX, (CMMS), SCADA, or other equipment-specific programs for HMI terminals.
- Modify and document all program changes to the processing equipment.
- Ability to travel 10% of the time.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management or apparent.
Qualifications:
- Technical skills to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and other technical documents.
- Troubleshoot electrical problems and repair electrical equipment.
- Ability to work with outside electrical engineers and other professionals to complete projects.

- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Minimum 3 years of programming and electrical troubleshooting experience
- Working knowledge of the Electrical Code (NEC, NFPA 70-E)
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Computer skills required: Inventory Software; Microsoft Office
- Ability to interpret technical specifications, wiring diagrams, prints, and layouts. Experience with a CAD package is a positive.
- Specialized equipment, machines, or vehicles used: Forklift, Scissor Lift, Aerial Boom Lift for use in the facility, Extruder, and HMI (certifications and/or licenses may be required).
- Must complete and pass OSHA's requirements for forklift certification (powered industrial truck) training as set forth in 29 CFR 1910.178.
- Experience with PLC programming/troubleshooting is necessary.
- Good time management skills are required to ensure assigned responsibilities are completed in an efficient and safe manner.
- Good follow-through ability; ability to adhere to work schedule and follow through on challenges as they arise.
- Cross-training of the Technicians or others for skill improvement.
- Project or Emergency work that impacts the production capability of the plant.
- Training of a new Technician requiring a different shift for a period.
- Will service equipment at heights up to 30 feet with the use of proper PPE.

Work Environment, Schedule, and Physical Demands:
The work environment is on the plant floor. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud, and we do expect employees and visitors to wear issued personal protective equipment (PPE), including hearing protection, while on the plant floor.
We are a 24/7 process operation. The work schedule for this position is dictated by the need to manage and react to issues on the shifts. The planned schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 8-10 hour shifts; however, this position requires flexibility to meet the needs of the business. This position will serve as a backup to the Maintenance Manager as needed.

- There will be moderate lifting (up to 50 pounds), standing, and walking for several hours at a time.
- Frequently required to: climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, or crawl; work near moving mechanical parts; work around fumes/airborne particles; work in high, precarious places; exposure to outside weather conditions.
- Continually required to: talk or hear; utilize close and distance vision; vision; peripheral vision; depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
