Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor
Overview
We operate a high-throughput, mechanically driven IBA processing plant. You will ensure all plant and equipment are safely maintained, responding quickly to breakdowns and carrying out planned preventative maintenance to minimise downtime. Safety, reliability and high-quality recovery rates are central to this role.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and record all work in the CMMS.
* Respond to breakdowns and carry out fast, safe repairs.
* Support both electrical and mechanical tasks as required (dual-skilled role).
* Fault-find on electrical systems (inverters, motors, 24V circuits, control panels) and/or mechanical components (fabrication, welding, conveyors, heavy plant).
* Report issues arising from maintenance activities and suggest plant improvements.
* Monitor and request spare parts in a timely manner.
* Supervise contractors and ensure compliance with RAMS and site safety standards.
* Participate in toolbox talks, audits and cross-functional improvement teams.
* Work closely with production, maintenance and yard staff to maximise plant performance.
* Carry out additional reasonable tasks in line with business needs.
Skills & Experience
* Strong electrical and/or mechanical maintenance background (dual-skilled ).
* Confident fault-finding abilities.
* Experience in aggregates, recycling, or heavy industrial/manufacturing environments (advantage).
* Ability to read electrical drawings and work on control panels (if electrically biased).
* Experience with welding/fabrication and heavy plant maintenance (if mechanically biased).
* Good problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
* Understanding of key regulations (Working at Height, PUWER, etc.)
Qualifications
* NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
* Relevant trade certifications (Abrasive Wheels, Lifting & Slinging, Working at Height, MEWP/IPAF, FLT/Telehandler, Confined Space — desirable).
* Min 5 years' experience of OXY & Mig/Tig welding of heavy manufacturing plant and equipment and have relevant qualifications
* Operation of hand and power tools common to the Fabricating / Welding trade
