Job Description: Maintenance Engineer

Department: Property Operations

Reporting directly to: Director of Facilities

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform general maintenance and repairs to guest rooms and public spaces as necessary.
  • Respond to guest request involving the working order of objects in the guest room in a timely manner.
  • Test, troubleshoot and perform basic repair on all types of equipment, plumbing (e.g., plunge toilets and unclog drains), electrical components including lamps, cosmetic items, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, internet devices, replace electrical switches and outlets, and other guestroom items.
  • Ability to install room fixtures such as lighting, TVs, telephones, curtain rods, speakers, iPods, computers, etc. as needed and requested.
  • Performing routine preventive maintenance on guest rooms and building equipment, repairing, or replacing broken or defective parts and fixtures, painting, performing preventative maintenance services on systems and equipment.
  • Follow procedures that ensure the security of inventory and assents such as tools, supplies, equipment, furniture, televisions, replenishes supplies and inventory in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Assist Housekeepers as needed
  • Adhere to the Hotel Standard Operating Procedures (as updated).
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • 4+ years’ experience in hotel maintenance and/or related field.
  • Must have full availability and the ability to work a flexible schedule to include nights, weekends, and holidays
  • General understanding of electrical, plumbing, heating/air conditioning (HVAC) systems.
  • Adheres to OSHA regulations regarding emergencies, safe work practices, and wearing of protective gear as necessary.
  • Adhere to the Forbes Travel Guide Standards, with specific emphasis on but not limited to: Arrival/Departure Service, Guest Services One and Two, Guest Service Request, Fitness Facility, Housekeeping Daily Service, Housekeeping Turndown Service, Guest Room, Public Areas, Hotel Dining, Bar/Lounge, Pool/Beach Service.

  • Adhere to the Code of Conduct (as updated) and Confidentiality, Non-Solicitation & Intellectual Property Agreement (as updated)
  • Able to work unsupervised with focus and attention to detail. Assist colleagues as needed.
  • Oral and written proficiency in English
  • Able to lift, carry, push, and/or pull 40-50 pounds. Ability to kneel, reach overhead, climb, crouch, and bend downwards.
  • Must be able to seize, grasp, turn and hold objects with hands.
  • Able to stand on feet for long periods of time and move in a prompt manner between various locations.
