Maintenance Engineer

Responsible for the building and grounds of the hotel. The primary duty is to ensure the smooth daily operation and guest appeal of the hotel. We are looking a maintenance engineer who can work with the current engineer and team on-site at the Goodwin Hotel in Hartford, CT.
Position Responsibilities:
- Ability to complete tasks in an organized and timely manner.
- Enforces a clean workplace throughout the shift in all locations.
- Keep current records of inspection repairs as required by state law.
- Coordinate services from outside vendors such as HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, etc.
- Order all materials, supplies and tools.
- Complete and delegate responsibilities regarding painting, construction, installations, and general upkeep for the hotel.
- Responsible for, but not limited to, proper operations of all electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, laundry, kitchen, refrigeration, lighting systems, and all specialized equipment, property upkeep, and compliance with city, state and /or federal code compliance.
- Conduct Daily, Weekly, and Monthly Preventative Maintenance audits to ensure working order of facility equipment
- Maintain documentation of routine and preventative maintenance measures as it pertains to facility generator, fire alarm, and sprinkler systems
- Review work orders and complete work by priority; ensuring all maintenance requests are completed in a timely manner.
- Loss prevention and security.
- Maintain outdoor grounds, sprinkler system and exterior of hotel.
- Be available outside of regularly scheduled hours (nights/weekends/holidays) to address urgent/emergency facilities related issues in a timely manner. Such issues include but not limited to, taking calls from GM, respond onsite as appropriate to alarms/911 calls and other related issues as the arise.
Position Requirements
- High School degree or equivalent and two (2) years maintenance experience.
- Must have some skills in plumbing, carpentry, painting, and electrical work
- Good communication skills needed to be able to speak to guest and / or associates to handle repairs, room concerns, temperature concerns, and emergency situations
- Be able to lift up to 75lbs unassisted
- Ability to respond effectively during emergency procedures
- Must be able to work weekends as required.
- Maintain the hotel in accordance with our hotel standards by performing preventative maintenance and repairs as necessary.
- Upon clocking-in check at Front Desk Office if any maintenance work orders are open and address issues as soon as guest rooms are available (guest checked-out or requesting service while in-room)
- Wintertime – making sure all entrances to buildings are clear out of snow (especially steps are free of ice) – apply ice melt as needed
- Inspecting building elevators (general operations and card readers)
- Inspecting boiler rooms (checking temperatures and pressure gauges)
- Performing tasks requested and/or authorized by management (GM, engineering or housekeeping supervisors)
- Perform preventative maintenance on PTAC and other heating and cooling units
