Job Overview

Reporting to the Equipment Maintenance Manager, the Journeyman Maintenance Electrician will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of all electrical systems and equipment within the facility. This includes troubleshooting and repairing electrical issues, performing routine maintenance, and installing new electrical components as needed. The Journeyman Maintenance Electrician will work closely with the production team to minimize downtime and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance on electrical systems and equipment.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues, identifying and implementing solutions to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.
  • Install and upgrade electrical components and systems, including wiring, conduits, lighting, and control systems.
  • Collaborate with the production team to address electrical concerns.
  • Clean and lubricate pumps, compressors, and other equipment.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and calibration activities.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics and diagrams to ensure proper installation and functionality of electrical systems.
  • Install, disassemble, and move industrial machinery and equipment.
  • Maintain compliance with safety, quality, and food safety standards.
  • Follow and enforce safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, to prevent accident and injuries.
  • Document maintenance activities and repairs accurately.
  • Perform routine inspections and testing of electrical systems to identify potential problems and ensure optimal performance.
  • Ensure all electrical work complies with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and advancements.
  • Work safely and maintain a clean work environment.
  • Comply with dress code and mandatory PPE requirements.
  • Report safety hazards to the supervisor.
  • Provide training and guidance to other maintenance staff.
  • Follow all Food Safety, HACCP, Quality and Operational procedures (SOPs) as defined in NMF’s Quality Management System.
  • Ensure the adherence of company policies and procedures.
  • Respond promptly to emergency situations involving electrical systems, providing quick and effective solutions to restore functionality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Valid Washington State Journeyman Electrician (EL01) license.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience working as a licensed electrician.
  • Completion of an accredited apprenticeship program.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Electrical Code (NEC) and local regulations.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain any necessary permits or certifications.
  • Strong understanding of safety protocols and procedures for working with electrical systems.
  • Safety oriented and ability to maintain a high level of focus and attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Adaptable, resourceful and a willingness to learn.

Work Conditions

  • Must be available to work day and afternoon shifts.
  • Weekend work and overtime hours will be required.
  • Hours and days of work will be changed according to operational needs.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures including but not limited to working in production, warehouse coolers and freezers from time-to-time.
  • Required to work in tight spaces, above ceilings, on ladders and scaffolding.
  • May be required to lift 50+ lbs.
  • Allergens present – including but not limited to soy, wheat, etc.
  • Required to wear PPE such as safety boots, hair nets, lab coats and more.
  • No jewelry allowed on the production floor.

Compensation range for this position in Stanwood, Washington: $35 to $55 per hour. The compensation depends on qualifications and experience. This position is eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance, accrued paid time off plan annually, personal medical and parental leave, paid holidays, and family care benefits.
