1)    PRIMARY PURPOSE: Responsible for performing electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of equipment, machinery, and facility systems to ensure continuous and safe operations. This role supports all Little Bear operations and ensures compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.

 

2)    QUALIFICATIONS:

a.    Education / Certification / License(s):

        i.        High School diploma or GED (Required).

        ii.        Associate degree/Technical diploma in Electrical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or related field ().

        iii.        Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

        iv.        Texas Journeyman Electrician License or equivalent (Required); Master Electrician ().

        v.        OSHA 10 or 30-Hour General Industry Certification ().

        vi.        Valid Texas Driver’s License (Required).

        vii.        Forklift Certification or willingness to obtain with 90 days of employment (Required).

b.    :

        i.        Bilingual - English & Spanish ().

c.    Experience:

        i.        Minimum 3 years’ experience in industrial or commercial electrical experience, to include 480V 3-phase systems, motor controls,

                  and PLCs ().

       ii.        Experience in food production, agriculture, or produce packing environment ().

       iii.        Familiarity with SMETA, HACCP, and food safety electrical controls. ()

 

3)    SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:   

a.    Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills, with knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical

        components.

b.    Strong understanding of Electrical Code (NEC) and OSHA safety regulations.

c.     Knowledge of VFDs, control panels, power distribution systems, and lighting systems.

d.    Troubleshooting skills for mechanical/electrical issues across conveyor belts, packaging lines, refrigeration, and cold storage systems.

e.    Ability to use hand tools, power tools, electrical test meters, and diagnostic equipment.

f.      Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, lifting, and repetitive motion.

g.    Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and wiring diagrams.

h.    Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and conditions.

i.      Ability to respond to emergencies outside of regular working hours.

j.      Strong work ethic and dependability, with ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

k.     Strong time management and decision-making skills, with ability to get top notch results.

l.      Strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement to achieve operational excellence.

m.   Ability to work effectively independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

4)    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

a.    Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and equipment across production, warehouse, cold storage areas, and other areas as

        needed.

b.    Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical malfunctions in machinery and systems.

c.     Perform preventive maintenance/inspections on motors, lighting, wiring, control panels, & electrical components.

d.    Support installation of new electrical infrastructure and equipment upgrades.

e.    Ensure all work complies with electrical codes, safety rules, and internal company policies.

f.      Document repairs, parts usage, and maintenance logs accurately.

g.    Assist with energy efficiency improvements and participate in continuous improvement projects.

h.    Collaborate with outside contractors, vendors, and inspectors as needed.

i.      Documentation and reporting:

       i. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, work orders, equipment inspections, and repairs using paper-based logs or

          computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).

       ii.  Report equipment deficiencies, safety hazards, and maintenance needs to supervisors or designated personnel for timely resolution.

j.      Safety compliance:

        i. Adhere to safety regulations, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and food safety standards while performing maintenance

           activities.

       ii. Follow lockout/tagout procedures and other safety protocols to prevent accidents, injuries, and equipment damage.

k.     Team collaboration:

        i. Collaborate with maintenance team members, production staff, and supervisors to prioritize work orders, coordinate maintenance

            schedules, and minimize disruptions to production operations.

       ii. Communicate effectively with colleagues to share knowledge, provide assistance, and ensure efficient workflow within the

           maintenance department.

l.      Submit purchase orders for repair services that cannot be performed in-shop, supplies, tools, and machinery.

m.   Ensure facility and field vehicles and equipment are serviced and maintained.

n.    Develop and coordinate plans for reconstruction, fabrication, or installation of new equipment, lines, machinery, or buildings.

o.    Review new machinery, plan, and discuss equipment needs and modifications with management.

p.    Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.

q.    Direct maintenance activities on utility systems to provide continuous supply of electric power, gas, steam, or air required for operations.

r.     Schedule repairs, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production operations.

s.     Requisition tools, equipment, and supplies required for operation.  

t.      Confer with facility management and quality control to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve operations

        and conditions of machines and equipment.

u.    Inspect operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.

v.     Coordinate with Production Managers on Daily Maintenance Checklist for the facility.

w.   Must be willing to work flexible hours (including evenings, weekends, and holidays) as needed.
