Summary Of Job Duties
Duties will include coordinating, scheduling, and completion of the maintenance of the buildings and facilities of the Rice Research and Extension Center. This includes the main office and laboratory complex plus residences, landscaping, water treatment plant, granary, and other laboratory facilities. The coordinator must be skilled in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and other maintenance trades. The coordinator will develop and implement preventative maintenance programs based on the life cycle of each building. This will include inspection of buildings needing repairs to assess problems and determining the status, materials, and man-hour requirements. The coordinator is responsible for determining whether repairs should be completed in-house or contracted out based on the estimated expertise required and the size and duration of the project. The coordinator estimates repair, replacement, or renovation costs and advises the Center Director on project priorities. The coordinator must be able to manage employees and monitor work activities. You will be expected to perform other duties as assigned as they contribute to the missions of RREC and the Division of Agriculture. This position reports to the Director of the RREC and performance will be evaluated each year within the Center.
Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications
The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma plus six years of experience involving facilities maintenance and repair or a related area.
