The Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing a wide range of routine maintenance, repair, and inspection duties to ensure that company facilities, equipment, vehicles, and grounds remain safe, functional, and well-maintained. This position supports a substance use disorder treatment facility for adolescent , requiring reliability, professionalism, and sensitivity to the mission of providing a safe and supportive environment for and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform minor maintenance and repairs on facility electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and related systems.
  • Repair damage to property, including flooring, walls, ceilings, painting, and tile replacement.
  • Monitor and refill water softener salt; replace HVAC filters on a scheduled basis.
  • Replace defective light bulbs and maintain proper facility lighting.
  • Keep the Business Manager informed of major repair needs beyond the scope of in-house maintenance.
  • Coordinate and oversee work by external contractors for specialized maintenance and repairs.
  • Ensure fire extinguishers and fire suppression systems are inspected and charged annually.
  • Conduct routine maintenance on the telephone system.
  • Ensure elevators receive contracted routine service and required annual inspections.
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance on company vehicles; schedule inspections and coordinate major repairs with local garages.
  • Maintain outdoor grounds and manage mowing/snow removal contracts.
  • Conduct weekly inspections of facilities, including unoccupied spaces, boiler rooms, garages, pool, and grounds. Report and correct identified issues.
  • Respond to off-hours maintenance calls, if available.
  • Issue facility keys to new personnel.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general building systems.
  • Hands-on skills in carpentry, painting, and minor repair work.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and coordinate with outside contractors when needed.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with leadership.
  • Must demonstrate professionalism and discretion while working in a residential treatment environment.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Qualified in accordance with PA Act 33, Child Protective Act, Criminal History Check, and FBI fingerprint evaluation.

Work Environment:
This position is based in a substance use disorder treatment facility for adolescent . Duties involve both indoor and outdoor work in all seasons, with physical activity such as lifting, climbing, bending, and standing for extended periods. Some on-call responsibilities may apply.
