Position Summary:
Under the leadership of the Director, Dialysis, the Dialysis Technician is an active member of the department that assists the Director, Dialysis and staff in the delivery of dialysis services and care. The machine Technician maintains and repairs hemodialysis machines. Machine tech is responsible for preventative maintenance of the Fresenius 2008 K machines. Dialyzer reuse is also a function of the machine technician.
Basic Qualifications:
Education:
- Requires a high school diploma or a GED state certification and the completion of the Fresenius training program. Experience:
- Requires up to one year of work-related experience or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Licensure, Registrations & Certifications:
- Requires and maintains a Certification in the Fresenius Dialysis System Technical Training.
- Requires and maintains a certification in Basic Life Saving (BLS). (If BLS certification is not current upon hire it must be obtained within three (3) months of hire.)
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Performs normal maintenance on the equipment and runs tests to ensure equipment is functioning properly.
- Orders parts needed for repair of machines.
- Draws cultures and disinfects machines to comply with unit polices.
- Keeps up to date records of work performed on each machine.
- Maintains dialysis machines in the Acute Unit at Crisp Regional Hospital.
- Performs reuse on dialyzers and keep accurate logs per unit policy.
- Trans orts dial sis baths to the treatment floor.
- Assists with lifting patients as needed.
- Functions as part of an interdisciplinary team promoting positive interpersonal communication skills when communicating with patients, families, visitors, physicians and staff in all departments of the organization.
- Complies with CRHS and department safety, infection control and performance improvement initiatives and sterile procedures ensuring the safe delivery of care and services. Presents a professional image to CRHS nursing and medical staff members. Performs other related job duties as assigned.
