Position Summary
We’re seeking a skilled Data Center Installation Technician with experience in both Inside Plant (ISP) and Outside Plant (OSP) cabling to support new construction projects at hyperscale data centers. The role involves building and installing cable pathways, pulling and terminating copper and fiber cabling, and at times performing OSP-related work such as conduit installation, fiber routing, and outside infrastructure preparation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, route, and secure fiber optic and copper cabling throughout data center environments and surrounding campus infrastructure.
  • Build and install overhead and underground pathways including ladder rack, tray, duct bank, and conduit systems.
  • Support OSP work such as trenching assistance, conduit placement, handhole installation, and fiber pulls between buildings or demarc points.
  • Perform terminations and testing for both copper and fiber systems as required.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings, pathway diagrams, and site plans for both ISP and OSP scopes.
  • Work closely with project leads, engineers, and other trades to ensure installation accuracy and schedule alignment.
  • Follow all site-specific safety, security, and quality standards.
  • Maintain organized work areas, materials, and documentation.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of experience in structured cabling, data center construction, or OSP/telecom installation.
  • Familiarity with both ISP and OSP cable installation practices.
  • Experience pulling and dressing Cat6, single-mode, and multi-mode fiber.
  • Basic knowledge of OSP infrastructure (handholes, conduit, pull strings, sweeps, etc.).
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools, ladders, and lifts safely.
  • Ability to read and follow blueprints or construction drawings.
  • Must be comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in varying site conditions.
  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification (or willingness to obtain).

Experience

  • Experience working in hyperscale or enterprise data centers.
  • Familiarity with fiber optic testing and splicing.
  • Understanding of grounding, bonding, and pathway standards (TIA-607, NEC, etc.).
  • Experience coordinating with civil and electrical trades on OSP installations.
