About the Role
We’re seeking experienced Cable Technicians to join our growing Data Center Operations Team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for installing, routing, terminating, and testing copper and fiber optic cabling to support mission-critical network and server infrastructure. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and capable of working efficiently in high-security and high-demand data center environments.
MUST BE OKAY WORKING IN 2 DIFFERENT LOCATIONS AT ANY GIVEN WEEK ( Fredericksburg, VA or Stafford, VA)
Key Responsibilities
- Install, route, and secure structured cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, and fiber optic).
- Terminate and label patch panels, fiber enclosures, and network racks.
- Perform cable testing, certification, and troubleshooting using appropriate tools (Fluke, OTDR, etc.).
- Support the deployment of servers, network devices, and related hardware.
- Maintain accurate documentation of cabling layouts, labeling, and test results.
- Adhere to company and industry standards for quality, safety, and ESD handling.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other technicians to ensure timely project delivery.
- Follow access and security protocols specific to data center environments.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in structured cabling, preferably within data centers or large-scale IT facilities.
- OSHA 10 certification
- Proficient in copper and fiber installation, termination, and testing.
- Familiar with BICSI, TIA/EIA, and ANSI cabling standards.
- Ability to read blueprints, rack elevations, and network diagrams.
- Comfortable working in high-density rack and overhead ladder tray environments.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work on ladders or elevated platforms as needed.
