What will my role entail?
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Low Voltage Estimator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for projects involving video surveillance and access control systems. The Low Voltage Estimator will work closely with the sales and project management teams to ensure successful bidding and execution of projects.
- Installation: Install fire sprinkler systems, identify major issues, and complete necessary programming in a safe and timely manner.
- Compliance and Safety: Adhere to all applicable safety policies and procedures at the local, corporate, and OSHA levels.
- Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall effectiveness of the fire safety team.
- Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive cost estimates for fire alarm systems projects.
- Collaborate with sales and project management teams to develop accurate and competitive bids.
- Identify and quantify cost factors such as production time, materials, and labor expenses.
- Research and source materials and subcontractors as needed for accurate estimating.
- Prepare detailed proposals and cost summaries for submission to clients.
- Review and assess bid opportunities and project requirements to determine feasibility and profitability.
- Maintain and update a database of cost information and historical data for future reference.
- Assist in the negotiation of contracts and pricing with vendors and subcontractors.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits to gather necessary project information.
- Ensure all estimates comply with industry standards and company policies.
- Provide support to project managers during the project planning and execution phases.
Requirements:
- Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field , or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in estimating low voltage systems, specifically video surveillance and access control systems.
- Proficiency in estimating software and tools such as Bluebeam, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong knowledge of video surveillance and access control systems, materials, and installation methods.
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical specifications.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Bluebeam, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
