Lighting Design Engineer

To deliver exceptional service to the regional sales team by developing lighting and lighting control proposals that exceed customer expectations. The Lighting Design Engineer will ensure that all designs meet technical, aesthetic, and compliance standards while supporting the overall business objectives.



Key Responsibilities



1.



Collaborate with Sales Teams – Work closely with sales to provide design support and guidance, ensuring project requirements and deadlines are met.



2.



Lighting Calculations – Produce internal and external lighting calculations using Relux or Dialux software.



3.



Lighting Control Design – Develop lighting control schemes aligned with project lighting requirements.



4.



Layout & Documentation – Create lighting and control layouts using AutoCAD and maintain all project documentation.



5.



Technical Documentation – Prepare and complete take-offs, luminaire schedules, technical submittals, datasheets, and BREEAM-related documents accurately.



6.



Compliance & Standards – Ensure all designs meet customer, industry, and legal standards.



7.



Specialist Support – Provide technical expertise and assistance for specialist or complex projects as needed.



8.



Site Visits – Conduct on-site assessments and offer technical advice when required.



9.



Documentation Control – Organize and maintain accurate records of all drawings and design reports.



10.



Continuous Improvement – Identify and communicate opportunities to enhance the lighting design service.



11.



Cross-Department Collaboration – Partner with other departments to ensure the most suitable technical and commercial solutions are proposed to secure customer orders.



Skills, Experience & Qualifications



Essential:



*



GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths.

Experience in indoor lighting design.



*



Proven use of Relux / Dialux and AutoCAD software.



*



Qualification in a design-related or electrical engineering discipline.



*



Strong communication skills (written and verbal).



*



Highly organized, able to meet tight deadlines.



*



Self-motivated and collaborative team player.



*



Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.



*



Strong time management and customer focus.



*



Eagerness to develop new skills.



Desirable:



*



LIA qualification.



*



Degree (or equivalent) in Architecture, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

Experience in outdoor lighting design.



*



Knowledge of lighting control technology.

Experience with Revit / BIM.
