We are seeking a Licensed Land Surveyor / Project Manager to lead survey operations across boundary, topographic, SUE, and transportation projects. Based in Virginia Beach, this leadership role offers the opportunity to manage both office and field teams, oversee multiple crews, and serve as a trusted partner to state DOT and municipal clients.
The ideal candidate is a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) with extensive experience in transportation and roadway projects, proficiency in modern survey software, and a proven track record of guiding projects from planning through to delivery.
What You’ll Do
- Direct and oversee multiple field crews; assemble field data, perform calculations, and prepare plats/legal descriptions.
- Ensure QA/QC compliance on deliverables, budgets, schedules, and invoicing.
- Serve as client point-of-contact, representing the firm at project and industry meetings.
- Mentor survey staff through goal setting, performance reviews, and professional development.
- Support pursuit strategies and proposals for new survey opportunities.
Must Have
- Active PLS license in at least one U.S. state (or ability to obtain Virginia licensure within six months).
- 8+ years of progressive land surveying experience, including DOT/roadway or transportation projects.
- Demonstrated proficiency with MicroStation / OpenRoads or AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Working knowledge of federal, state, and local survey regulations.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a standard background screen.
- U.S. work authorization (or TN visa eligibility).
Nice to Have
- Multistate PLS licensure.
- Experience with SUE, aerial/LiDAR, or sUAS technologies.
