HVAC Refrigeration Technician Job Responsibilities
HVAC Certified Technician /Registered Technician Job Purpose: Provide HVAC Services with specific responsibility for identifying repair and/or replacement needs; installing, repairing, maintaining and upgrading HVAC systems and equipment; assisting other skilled trades; and ensuring that tools and materials are available at job site.
HVAC Technician Job Duties:
- Coordinate with assigned foreman and/or other trades for the purpose of completing projects and work orders efficiently.
- Diagnose causes of problems and/or failures in heating/air conditioning systems for the purpose of identifying equipment and/or system repair and/or replacement needs.
- Fabricates equipment parts for the purpose of meeting specialty needs and/or replacing unavailable parts.
- Informs personnel regarding procedures and/or status of work orders for the purpose of providing information for making decisions, taking appropriate action and/or complying with building and safety regulations.
- Inspects HVAC system and their components (e.g. heating units, building exhaust fans, ventilation units, etc.) for the purpose of evaluating condition, identifying necessary repairs and recommending preventative maintenance.
- Installs heating and air conditioning equipment and systems for the purpose of providing enhanced and/or upgraded capabilities.
- Maintain vehicle, tools and equipment and system for the purpose of ensuring availability in safe operating conditions.
- Participates in meetings, workshops, training and seminars, as assigned for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions.
- Performs routine and preventative maintenance as needed for the purposes of ensuring the ongoing functioning of HVAC systems.
- Prepares written materials (e.g. repairs status, activity logs, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities and/or conveying information.
- Repairs heating and air conditioning systems and/or components (e.g. pumps, motors, air handlers, fan coils, piping, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring a comfortable work environment.
- Request equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of items required to complete the necessary installation and/or repair.
- Responds to emergency situations during or after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
- Transports a variety of tools, equipment and supplies for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials required at the job site.
- Perform other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Skill in using small hand tools such as pliers, hammers, screwdrivers, wrenches, etc.
- Skill in using hand-held power tools such a drills, vacuum pump, recovery machine etc.
- Skill in using a variety of motorized equipment such as, scissor lift, Boom lift forklift, dollies, etc.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to work in a team setting.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects.
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to climb and work from ladders and scaffolds.
- Manual dexterity.
- Physical stamina and endurance
- Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating equipment used in the installation, repair and maintenance on
HVAC equipment;
- Planning and managing projects
- Preparing and maintaining accurate records
- Handling hazardous materials
- Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with all people including those from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds
- Operate within a defined budget
HVAC Technician Working Conditions:
HVAC Technicians may work outdoors in all types of weather; lift and carry heavy objects; work under exposure to heavy traffic, high noise levels, etc.; may work varied shifts, nights, weekends and holidays; and may work with or be exposed to hazardous materials or chemicals.
Certificates & Licenses:
- Current Texas Certified ACR License
- Universal EPA Refrigeration Certificate
- Class A or B Commercial Refrigeration/Process Cooling & Heating License
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Commercial and Industrial
- Successful completion of continued education toward HVAC Trade
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
