Role: Legal Counsel

A leading player in the renewable energy sector, this company specializes in the development, construction, and operation of clean energy infrastructure across Europe. With a focus on utility-scale solar PV, wind, and energy storage projects, it manages a diversified portfolio spanning multiple countries.
My client is seeking a skilledLegal Counselwith a strong foundation inproject finance and power purchase agreements (PPAs). This role involves providing comprehensive legal support across financing transactions, energy infrastructure projects, and related commercial matters, while ensuring adherence to regulatory frameworks and minimizing legal exposure.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and negotiate project finance documentation, including loan agreements, security arrangements, hedging instruments, and related commercial contracts.
- Handle a variety of PPA-related documentation such as physical and virtual PPAs, tolling and route-to-market agreements, and market representation and balancing arrangements.
- Advise on banking, finance, and corporate law issues connected to project development and financing activities.
- Identify and mitigate legal and contractual risks in connection with financing structures, PPAs, and broader commercial dealings.
- Oversee and coordinate work with external legal advisers across multiple jurisdictions.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Support leadership and project teams by advising on risk allocation, contract management, and dispute resolution strategies.
Qualifications & Experience
- Qualified lawyer with a degree in law and admission to practice in a relevant jurisdiction.
- At least five years of post-qualification experience, ideally gained within a leading law firm or the in-house legal team of a company operating in the energy or infrastructure sector.
- Proven experience in drafting, negotiating, and advising on project finance and PPA transactions.
- Strong understanding of corporate, banking, and regulatory frameworks applicable to large-scale energy and infrastructure projects.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Demonstrated capability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities in a dynamic business environment.
- Fluency in English, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
