Lean Manufacturing Engineer in Ocala
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement Manager to lead a facility-wide transformation focused on 6S, Lean Manufacturing, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), workflow optimization, and waste elimination. This role will drive operational excellence initiatives across manufacturing operations while improving productivity, efficiency, safety, and plant organization.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience implementing Lean methodologies within large-scale manufacturing environments, including CCA Manufacturing and Cable & Harness manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
6S / Lean Program Leadership
Lead, implement, and sustain facility-wide 6S initiatives across all manufacturing departments.
Conduct baseline 6S assessments and establish ongoing audit systems including daily, weekly, and monthly reviews.
Develop visual workplace standards, procedures, signage, checklists, and standardized work instructions.
Promote a strong culture of workplace organization, safety, and operational discipline.
Value Stream Mapping & Workflow Optimization
Lead Value Stream Mapping (VSM) workshops to identify inefficiencies and eliminate non-value-added activities.
Redesign manufacturing floor layouts, workstations, and production cells to improve material flow and operational efficiency.
Optimize equipment placement, inventory flow, and workspace utilization to support Lean manufacturing objectives.
Support cellular manufacturing and continuous flow initiatives.
Continuous Improvement & Kaizen
Lead Kaizen events focused on waste elimination, process improvement, and productivity enhancement.
Drive measurable improvements in throughput, cycle time, labor utilization, and operational performance.
Identify and eliminate manufacturing waste including motion, waiting, transportation, inventory, defects, and overprocessing.
Track and report cost savings and operational gains resulting from Lean initiatives.
Training & Culture Development
Coach and mentor employees on Lean principles, 6S methodologies, and continuous improvement practices.
Develop training materials and facilitate employee engagement programs to support Lean culture transformation.
Encourage frontline participation through suggestion programs and improvement initiatives.
Governance & Performance Tracking
Build and maintain KPI dashboards and operational metrics to monitor improvement initiatives.
Facilitate continuous improvement review meetings and leadership updates.
Ensure sustainability of Lean practices through standardized audits and accountability systems.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 5+ years of experience leading 5S/6S and Lean Manufacturing programs in large-scale manufacturing environments.
Minimum 5+ years of experience facilitating Value Stream Mapping (VSM) workshops.
Proven experience redesigning plant layouts and manufacturing workflows to support Lean flow and operational efficiency.
Experience leading Kaizen events and continuous improvement initiatives.
Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles, visual management, and waste elimination methodologies.
Experience within:
CCA Manufacturing
Cable & Harness Manufacturing
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Experience creating KPI dashboards, audit systems, and performance metrics.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
Qualifications
Lean Six Sigma Certification (Green Belt or Black Belt )
Experience in electronics or aerospace manufacturing environments
Strong project management and cross-functional leadership skills
Experience implementing operational excellence initiatives across multiple departments
