Lean Manufacturing Engineer
Job Description
As a Manufacturing Optimization Engineer at PPG Aerospace working onsite at our Huntsville manufacturing facility you will support transformational projects in transparency assembly. This entry-level role combines Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering principles to improve processes, enhance digital integration, and increase operational efficiency. Reporting directly to the Manufacturing & Process Engineering Leader you will have a hands-on with Lean manufacturing processes and collaborate across teams and with production staff.
Key Responsibilities

- Lead transition from single-operator builds to phased, team-based assembly processes.
- Redefine routings, labor standards, work instructions, and tooling requirements.
- Modify work cells and auxiliary processes to support new workflows.
- Lead small-scale automation and digital tool deployment projects.
- Support sitewide Digital Transformation and MES implementation.
- Identify and integrate main product, quality, and performance data into MES.
- Apply Lean tools (e.g., value stream mapping, time studies) to improve throughput and efficiency.
- Collaborate to resolve production issues and lead strategic improvements.
- Lead ergonomic projects to enhance employee safety and comfort.

Qualifications
- \n
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, or related Engineering discipline.
- 1+ years of relevant manufacturing experience (internships/co-ops included).
- The ability to create clear work instructions for non-technical audiences.
- Proficiency in MS Office; experience with Excel, Power BI, Minitab, or databases
- Comfortable working both in office and on the production floor.
