Position Overview
The Lead Technician / Junior Operations Manager is a hybrid field leadership role designed for a high-performing technician who is ready to grow into management responsibilities.
This position combines production work in the field with operational support responsibilities including technician training, routing support, inventory oversight, quality control, and administrative execution.
The ideal candidate is organized, mechanically inclined, dependable, and eager to grow into a long-term leadership role within Yardsy.
Key Responsibilities
Field Operations & Service Execution
- Perform lawn care and turf applications safely and efficiently
- Support daily route completion and operational readiness
- Assist with high-quality service delivery across residential and commercial properties
- Maintain professionalism and strong customer interactions in the field
Leadership & Technician Development
- Assist with onboarding and on-the-job training of new technicians
- Reinforce company processes, safety standards, and service quality expectations
- Help create accountability and consistency within the field team
- Lead by example with a strong work ethic and ownership mindset
Operations Support
- Assist with routing and daily schedule adjustments using FieldRoutes
- Support time clock reviews, labor tracking, and technician accountability
- Help monitor production efficiency and route completion
- Assist leadership with operational problem-solving and daily execution
Inventory & Equipment Management
- Help manage chemical inventory, fills, and operational supplies
- Track material usage and communicate inventory needs proactively
- Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting on small engine equipment and spray systems, including:
- Hoses
- Spray guns
- Pumps
- Fittings
- Buttons and controls
- Ensure trucks, equipment, and storage areas remain clean and operationally ready
Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate operational records and service documentation
- Assist with inventory counts and reporting
- Support CRM and FieldRoutes updates as needed
- Ensure work orders, notes, and service records are completed properly
- Communicate clearly with leadership regarding operational issues, customer concerns, and team needs
Agronomic Support & Quality Control
- Support proper application practices and turf care standards
- Maintain awareness of seasonal lawn care timing, turf health, and service quality
- Assist with identifying turf issues and communicating solutions to leadership and customers
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in lawn care, landscaping, turf management, or outdoor services
- Desire to grow into a management or operations leadership role
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Comfortable balancing field work with administrative responsibilities
- Mechanically inclined with basic equipment troubleshooting ability
- Working knowledge of turf care and agronomic principles is a strong plus
- Experience with FieldRoutes, RealGreen, or similar software
- Valid drivers license with clean driving record
