Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Electrical Substation Wireman to join our team. This role involves installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical wiring systems in substations. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills and a keen eye for detail.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES: Install, maintain, and repair wiring systems in electrical substations. Interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings. Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, and other components. Ensure compliance with electrical codes and safety standards. Perform testing and troubleshooting using electrical testing equipment. Collaborate with engineers and other technicians on substation projects. Document work performed, materials used, and inspection results. Maintain tools and equipment in safe working conditions. Follow lockout/tagout procedures and wear appropriate PPE. Assist in upgrading and retrofitting substation systems as needed.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Lead and manage a team of substation wiremen, delegating daily tasks efficiently.
- Ensure all work adheres to electrical codes, safety standards and client specifications; conduct regular safety briefings and stop-work interventions.
- Mentor and train junior staff, providing knowledge transfer on procedures and technical tasks.
- Coordinate materials, tools, inventory, and ensure proper maintenance of equipment.
- Plan and schedule work assignments, adapting to jobsite changes and coordinating with multiple teams.
- Oversee administrative duties: timekeeping, reporting, switch order documentation, and as-built drawings.
- Serve as primary liaison with foremen, project managers, and other trades to maintain clear communication and resolve issues.
- Conduct quality inspections, identify deviations from plans, and troubleshoot technical problems on-site.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of a formal electrical apprenticeship program ().
- Vocational or technical training in electrical systems, industrial wiring, or power
- Knowledge of the Electrical Code (NEC) and OSHA safety
- 5 - 7 years of experience in electrical work, preferably in substations or high-voltage
- Experience with conduit installation, cable pulling, and control
- Valid Driver's license and good driving record
