Shape the Future of Transportation Infrastructure
We’re looking for a Lead Structural Bridge Engineer who’s ready to take the next step — someone who wants to own complex bridge and transportation structure projects, guide a growing team, and have a meaningful voice in how we procure and deliver structural work across the region.
In this role, you’ll lead the analysis and design of transportation-related structures such as bridges and culverts over waterways, highway and railroad overpasses, pedestrian bridges, and other miscellaneous structures that support the communities we serve. You’ll set the technical direction, make key design decisions, and ensure our work meets the highest standards of quality, safety, and constructability. You’ll also play a hands-on role in developing junior engineers and strengthening relationships with DOT and municipal clients.
For a seasoned engineer, this is a chance to gain more influence and visibility across a diverse project portfolio—without stepping away from the engineering you love. This position is located in our St. Louis, Missouri office, where you’ll join a strong, growing team of structural and transportation professionals. Competitive relocation assistance is available.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the analysis and design of complex bridges and transportation structures using industry-standard software.
- Evaluate and design rehabilitation strategies for existing bridges.
- Prepare technical specifications, reports, calculations, and plan sets; support clients during construction.
- Develop engineering budgets and schedules to meet project requirements.
- Create and refine design procedures to support efficient, high-quality work across the team.
- Mentor and guide junior structural engineers and CAD staff.
- Participate in interdisciplinary reviews to ensure integrated, well-coordinated deliverables.
- Perform quality-control reviews of structural calculations and drawings.
- Support or lead the development of proposals and client agreements.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent experience) and ~8+ years of structural engineering experience.
- Professional Engineering License (PE).
- Demonstrated experience designing bridges and transportation structures from concept through final design.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to clearly convey technical concepts.
- Advanced proficiency in bridge design software (Open Bridge Designer, STAAD, MDX, MIDAS or similar).
- Proven analytical problem-solving abilities and thoughtful engineering judgment.
Why This Role Matters
You won’t just deliver projects — you’ll help shape how our bridge practice grows. You’ll work with a collaborative, supportive team, lead meaningful work across Missouri and the region, and have real opportunities to expand your influence, mentor others, and grow into broader leadership.
If you’re looking for a place where your technical excellence, initiative, and ideas can truly make an impact, we’d love to connect
