Lead Software Engineer in Chicago

We are seeking a Lead Software Engineer with hands-on technical leadership experience, someone who can drive strategic technical decisions while still being deeply embedded in the code. This team builds custom, production-grade AI-driven solutions across litigation, M&A, finance, and HR, including document extraction and classification, privilege log review with automated challenge-letter , structured extraction of M&A contract terms for deal analysis, and AI-powered summarization of complex, multi-page documents.

This is a hybrid role, requiring 3 days onsite in Chicago, IL.

What You'll Do

\n

\n
• Lead and drive technical decisions for one of three AI engineering pods.

\n

• Build custom, production-grade AI-driven solutions across litigation, M&A, finance, and HR

\n

• Drive projects to completion independently, solving problems creatively without excessive oversight

\n

• Present well-researched options to business stakeholders when gathering context for technical decisions

\n

• Mentor and guide developers on your pod

\n

• Work across the stack: .NET, React, Azure (containers, infrastructure as code), Python workers, plugin development, and MCP servers

\n

• Incorporate AI-assisted coding tools (such as Codex) into day-to-day development

\n

Required

\n

\n
• At least 8 years of experience, with a proven track record of driving technical decisions and mentoring others

\n

• Hands-on experience building production-ready solutions with embedded AI

\n

• Strong experience with .NET, React, and Azure (container-based infrastructure, infrastructure as code)

\n

• Comfortable with AI-assisted coding tools like Codex

\n

• Demonstrated ability to drive projects to completion independently, with creative problem-solving

\n

• Strong communication skills, comfortable presenting well-researched options to support business decision-making

\n

• Background in large enterprise environments with complex team structures and stable deployment processes
