Lead Research Engineer - Physicist

About us At The Client we develop miniature robots that navigate through tissue, enabling new treatment options for pediatric brain cancer patients that currently have a poor prognosis. We are growing our R&D team and are looking for a Lead Research Engineer - Physicist to further improve performance of our magnetic propulsion system, leading to improved ability of our cancer fighting bots to move in the brain.Responsibilities · Develop clear understanding of required coil properties/location/current to generate specific magnetic fields, using Python based simulation software.· Explain unexpected phenomena, using an experimental approach grounded in physics, and recommend potential solutions.· Provide input to potential design improvements on both hardware (coil-design, coil-locations, voltage level) and software (filtering, control algorithms).· Closely work with software, electrical, mechanical and control engineers to translate proposed design improvements to concrete implementation/designs.· Support or (depending on experience) lead control algorithm development.· Develop timeline/plan and deliver on agreed-upon milestones. QualificationsMust:· MS physics.· Experience with control algorithms, utilizing Kalman filtering, etc.· Strong Python programming skill.· Extensive hands-on experimental experience, using sensors, DAQ, signal generators, controllers, etc.· Able to work with minimal supervision and deal with ambiguity.· Highly collaborative.· Authorized to work in the US. Plus:· PhD in physics.· Experience with:o Medical device/ IEC-60601o Magnetic field/magnetso X-ray equipment/magnetic field interactionPowered by JazzHR
