Location-Type: Hybrid – Onsite 3 days/week (Tue–Thu)
Start Date Is: 2 weeks from offer (or ASAP)
Duration: 6 months
Compensation Range: $70.00-85.00/hr

About the Role

Seeking a Lead Platform Engineer to strengthen its observability, reliability, and cloud infrastructure capabilities. This role combines hands-on engineering with strategic leadership, working closely with product teams to ensure systems are performant, reliable, and scalable.

The engineer will set performance/availability objectives, drive automation, provide technical mentorship, and guide the adoption of modern DevOps, observability, and cloud- practices.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Define and track availability and performance objectives, implementing improvements as needed.
  • Interpret evolving product team requirements and adjust platform/tooling accordingly.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Agile methodologies.
  • Deliver hands-on configuration, development, and automation across cloud and observability platforms.
  • Mentor team members and contribute thought leadership in platform engineering.
  • Partner with stakeholders to advise on innovative, out-of-the-box technical solutions.
  • Ensure observability tooling and platform services support CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices.

Must Haves

  • 8 years of experience in observability, site reliability, or cloud infrastructure.
  • Strong hands-on expertise with AWS & Azure services, including monitoring/logging (CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics).
  • Proficiency with observability stacks/APM tools: Prometheus, Grafana, Elastic stack, OpsRamp, OpenTelemetry, or similar.
  • Understanding of containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes) and orchestration.
  • Scripting/automation experience: Python, Bash, Terraform, Ansible.
  • Knowledge of system performance tuning, incident management, and root cause analysis.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices.
  • P roblem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Nice to Haves

  • Certifications: AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator, or Solutions Architect.
  • Experience with serverless and hybrid cloud architectures.
  • Knowledge of security and compliance monitoring in cloud environments.
  • Background in software development or SRE roles.
