Job Description

Role Purpose\n\nWe are seeking an experienced Senior Project Planner to join our dynamic team in Dartford. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project planning, particularly within the Rail or Highways sector and be proficient in Primavera software. You will play a critical role in ensuring the successful planning and execution of projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and deadlines.\n\nKey Areas of Responsibility\n\nPlanning: Overseeing the planning stages of a project, including defining tasks, timelines, and resource requirements\n\nScheduling: Creating project schedules using project management software (Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project) and identifying critical paths.\n\nMonitoring: Keeping track of project progress and updating schedules as needed\n\nCommunicating: Keeping stakeholders informed and ensuring projects stay on track\n\nManaging: Support the Project Manager in Managing budgets, resources, stakeholders, and risks\n\nCreating reports: Producing reports for project managers\n\nRisk management: Identifying and mitigating risks that could delay deliverables, increase costs, or cause scope creep\n\nKey Tasks\n\nDevelop and maintain detailed project plans using Primavera and MS Project, including schedules, resource allocation, and budget management.\n\nCollaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.\n\nMonitor project progress, development of S-Curves, identifying potential risks and implementing mitigation strategies.\n\nPrepare and present regular project status reports to senior management and stakeholders.\n\nFacilitate communication between teams to ensure alignment on project goals and timelines.\n\nEnsure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and best practices.\n\nAssist in the identification and procurement of necessary resources for project execution.\n\nKey Measurables\n\nDemonstration of understanding of the project.\n\nTimely return of project schedule/programme requirements\n\nProactive monitoring of project progress and development of reports/updates.\n\nMaintain consistent and clear communication with the project manager.\n\nIdentify potential project efficiencies relating to cost, schedule or resource management.\n\nDevelopment of action plans to correct any project deviations in collaboration with the project manager.\n\nRegular updating of key stakeholders.\n\nKey Behaviours\n\nStrong understanding of project management methodologies and best practices.\n\nExcellent organizational skills and attention to detail.\n\nRole Title:\n\nSenior Project Planner\n\nStrong analytical and problem-solving abilities.\n\nEffective communication and interpersonal skills.\n\nAbility to work independently and as part of a team\n\nEducation and Qualifications Specific to Role\n\nEssential Qualifications\n\nProficient in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.\n\nMust be capable of producing project plans from design and commercial information.\n\nExcellent report writing skills.\n\nTime management essential to satisfy demands of busy schedule.\n\nDesirable Qualifications or Equivalent Experience\n\nRelevant degree or certification in Project Planning / Management or related field is .\n\nAdvanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
