Job OverviewWe are seeking an experienced and dependable Lead Maintenance Technician to join a well-established company in Baton Rouge, LA. The ideal candidate will bring strong mechanical knowledge, leadership ability, and hands-on troubleshooting experience. This role ensures equipment reliability, supports a safe work environment, and guides a team of maintenance professionals in daily operations.Responsibilities
Leadership & Team OversightLead, supervise, and mentor a maintenance crew on assigned shifts.Assign, prioritize, and verify completion of daily maintenance tasks.Provide training, technical support, and guidance to technicians.Communicate effectively with production teams, supervisors, and other departments.Ensure all work complies with company procedures and safety standards.Assist with planning and scheduling preventive and corrective maintenance.
Technical Maintenance DutiesTroubleshoot and repair mechanical systems, including gearboxes, servos, conveyors, motors, and complex equipment.Install and remove motors, gearboxes, servos, and related components.Diagnose and repair issues involving bearings, sprockets, and power transmission parts.Read and interpret electrical schematics and perform electrical troubleshooting under Arc Flash safety protocols.Use diagnostic tools such as multimeters to evaluate system performance.Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and the ability to overcome technical challenges.Work independently and lead others in using manuals, tools, and available resources to solve problems.
Qualifications3+ years of industrial maintenance experience (lead or senior tech experience )Millwright experience requiredStrong mechanical aptitude with proven hands-on troubleshooting skillsAbility to discuss and demonstrate technical knowledgeAbility to provide strong professional referencesUnderstanding of bearings, sprockets, mechanical systems, and power transmissionExperience with electrical schematics and Arc Flash safetyPrior plant or industrial environment experience is a plusStrong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skillsSelf-starter with the ability to guide a team and work independently
Physical RequirementsLift up to 50 lbs regularlyStand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periodsClimb ladders and work at heights when requiredUse hand tools and diagnostic equipment safely and accuratelyWork in heat, noise, and industrial conditions while wearing required PPE
