Job Description

Location: Telford (2 days per week onsite)
Duration: 12 months
Rate: £670 per day
Clearance: BPSS
IR35: Inside IR35

We're seeking an experienced Lead Java Engineer to take a key technical leadership role within a large, complex transformation programme.

This role suits someone who enjoys solving challenging problems, shaping technical solutions, and leading teams through design and delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical design and delivery of Java-based services
• Create low-level designs (LLDs) aligned to high-level architecture
• Collaborate with Architects, QA Leads, and Delivery teams
• Provide hands-on technical leadership during the build phase
• Promote engineering best practices and shared components
• Assure quality, consistency, and technical standards across the team
• Contribute to the wider Lead Engineer and engineering community

Essential Skills

• Strong Java experience
• Spring/Spring Boot
• Kubernetes
• Platform and systems integration
• Proven experience leading engineers and technical delivery

Desirable

• React/Front End experience
