Job Description

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Functional Integration Engineer to join a specialist Integration and System Validation department, supporting the delivery of complex weapon system programmes.


This role performs the duties of a Functional Integration Engineer and reports into the Functional Integration leadership team.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning and delivery of proving and integration tests to meet programme maturity milestones and support timely clearance and certification for trials activities
  • Working closely with systems and design teams to derive robust test requirements and ensure full system-level test coverage
  • Overseeing the production of test instructions, test reports and associated safety documentation and processes
  • Hands-on integration of multiple missile and launcher subsystem variants in both trials and operational configurations
  • Supporting the integration and use of trials test equipment across proving activities
  • Coordinating with design teams to diagnose issues, investigate defects and support the identification of design solutions
  • Supporting trials defect investigations and analysis of test data where required
  • Defining requirements for test and trials equipment
  • Interfacing with internal customers and stakeholders to plan and deliver verification evidence and qualification campaigns


The ideal candidate would have:

  • A good understanding of hardware and software integration and test activities
  • Familiarity with the use of commercial laboratory test equipment
  • Experience of using data analysis tools and methods
  • Experience or a personal interest in scripting (for example Python or similar)
  • A practical and logical approach to solving complex technical problems
  • The ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, technically demanding environment


The ideal candidate must have:

  • A degree (or equivalent) in electrical, electronic engineering or a closely related discipline
  • The adaptability and initiative to work in a hands-on integration and proving role
  • The ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of technical stakeholders
