Lead Infrastructure EngineerBarnsley - Hybrid – (some weekend work will be required)Excellent salary & benefits

Elevation Tech & Transformation are recruiting on behalf of a well-established organisation in Barnsley for a Lead Infrastructure Engineer to join their IT team.

This is a key role within the business, acting as the final escalation point for infrastructure issues while driving improvements, upgrades and security-focused initiatives across a complex technical environment.

The Role

You’ll take ownership of core infrastructure, ensuring systems are secure, stable and continuously evolving to meet business needs. Working closely with third-party providers and internal stakeholders, you’ll play a pivotal role in both BAU support and project delivery.

Key responsibilities include:

• Acting as the final escalation point for complex infrastructure issues
• Coordinating with third-party providers for upgrades, patching and maintenance
• Planning and scheduling infrastructure changes around business-critical periods
• Delivering infrastructure and security-related projects
• Supporting ongoing improvements to systems and security practices
• Collaborating with internal teams and external suppliers
• Managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Essential experience:

• Strong networking fundamentals (including subnetting and WAN architecture)
• Active Directory
• Microsoft 365 / Office 365
• Fortinet technologies (including WiFi)
• HPE Servers & Storage
• Veeam Backup
• VMware and/or Hyper-V
• Experience working with third-party support providers
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to work independently and take ownership

Desirable skills:

• Advanced networking knowledge
• HPE Synergy, 3PAR / Primera, StoreOnce
• ThreatLocker
• Experience with BT / Openreach
• NetScaler, Citrix VDI
• Azure & Intune
• Project delivery or coordination experience
