We are seeking a Lead Flight Control Systems Engineer in our Boulder, Colorado facility.

Flight Controls Overview:

The flight controls engineer will primarily lead the architecture layout, requirements definition, sizing, design, ICDs, development, production, integration, testing and certification of a fly-by-wire flight control system for a part 25 aircraft development. This includes providing supplier coordination and technical oversight and flight control system integration across various functions within the company and across multiple partners and suppliers. We are a collaborative and creative environment, an ideal candidate would be able to develop and certify a robust system while also thinking creatively about how to minimize the development effort, technical risk and driving simplicity into the design.

Flight Controls Engineer Responsibilities:

Establish system architecture and system performance capabilities

Select/define major components including electronics, pilot inceptors, actuators and sensors

Define and maintain systems requirements

Interface and lead across program customers, suppliers, and other engineering stakeholders

Oversee airplane integration of flight controls, supplier testing, integration lab testing and airplane testing, including developing testing plans, lab requirements, instrumentation requirements and test procedures.

Requirements:

10+ years of experience in aerospace systems engineering

Bachelors degree required, Masters degree a plus

Experience with fly-by-wire flight control system development, including system sizing, component selection, system analysis and requirements

Experience with flight control electronics definition and system architectures

Experience with MATLAB simulation tools

Experience with CATIA and CAD modeling is desired

Experience working with external partners and suppliers on development projects

Strong certification knowledge and experience with part 25 desired, part 23 is okay.

Thorough background in safety assessment and development assurance processes used in commercial airplane development (ARP4761 and ARP4754)

Creative, curious, methodical and detail-oriented

Works well in a collaborative environment

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

Approach problem solving with a holistic view

Strong communication skills and can easily tailor communication to suit the audience

Ability to lead across multiple teams and companies
