Are you a highly skilled and experienced solar technician ready to take on a leadership role in California's thriving solar industry? We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Lead Solar Removal & Reinstallation Technician to join our growing team. In this pivotal role, you will lead a crew through the safe and efficient removal and reinstallation of residential solar panel systems. This position requires exceptional technical expertise, strong leadership, critical thinking, and a commitment to delivering superior quality and customer satisfaction.

California's solar landscape is dynamic, with ongoing updates to regulations and a continuous demand for system upgrades and maintenance. As a Lead Technician, you will be at the forefront of this evolution, ensuring projects are completed to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and train a team of solar technicians in best practices for solar panel removal and reinstallation.

  • Oversee daily project operations, ensuring efficient workflow, adherence to timelines, and exceptional workmanship.

  • Safely and efficiently disassemble and reassemble solar panel systems, including modules, racking, and electrical components, ensuring compliance with all local, state, and electrical and building codes.

  • Perform meticulous disconnection and reconnection of electrical wiring and components, ensuring proper grounding and system integrity.

  • Install solar panels, racking systems, and electrical components, ensuring proper alignment, wiring, and connections with the installation team. Conduct post-installation testing to verify system functionality and optimal operation.

  • Champion a culture of safety on every job site, strictly enforcing all company safety protocols and industry regulations.

  • Ensure proper use of PPE when working at heights, with electrical systems, and in various weather conditions.

  • Stay current with the latest solar industry standards, safety guidelines, and California-specific regulations.

  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all work performed, including removal procedures, reinstallation details, system diagnostics, and any issues encountered.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients on-site, providing clear and professional communication regarding project progress, technical details, and any potential concerns.

Qualifications:

  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 2-5 years of proven experience in solar panel installation, removal, and maintenance, with a strong emphasis on reinstallation projects.

    • Prior experience in a lead or supervisory role on solar installation or service crews is highly .

    • In-depth familiarity with various solar electrical systems, wiring configurations (AC and DC), inverter technologies (string, micro-inverters, optimizers), and battery storage systems.

    • Demonstrated experience working at heights (rooftops, elevated platforms) and handling large, delicate equipment safely.

  • Skills & Knowledge:

    • Expert-level understanding of solar-related electrical principles.

    • Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for complex solar system issues.

    • Proficiency in operating power tools, hand tools, and specialized equipment specific to solar installation and removal.

    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications accurately.

    • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to unforeseen challenges.

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively lead a team and interact with clients.

  • Certifications (, but not required):

    • NABCEP (North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners) certification or other solar-related certifications.

    • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.

  • Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and work in physically demanding conditions.

    • Comfort with heights, climbing ladders, and working on scaffolding or sloped rooftops.

    • Ability to perform tasks requiring fine manual dexterity and exceptional attention to detail.

  • Driver’s License (required):

    • A valid California driver’s license with a clean driving record is required to operate company vehicles and transport equipment to various job sites.
