Lead Compression Engineer
Location: Edinburgh - Ideally onsite 5 days per week
Salary: £65,000-£75,000 per annum
Working Hours: 37 hours per week (flexible)

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Lead Compression Engineer to join our engineering team. In this key role, you will take ownership of compressor design and optimisation, working from first principles to deliver robust, high-performing mechanical solutions. You will work closely with cross-discipline teams and support product development through simulation, testing, and data-driven decision making.
Key Responsibilities
Lead design and development of compression systems using engineering fundamentals
Perform simulation work to support design decisions and product optimisation
Use Matlab to analyse and model system behaviour
Carry out flow calculations and capture manufacturing data to inform engineering outputs
Apply mechanical engineering expertise to complex system challenges
Communicate effectively with engineering teams and other disciplines to ensure project alignment
Essential Experience & Skills
Strong mechanical engineering background
Practical experience with simulation tools
Exposure to Matlab for analysis and modelling
Comfortable handling design from first principles
Familiarity with flow calculations and mechanical systems engineering
Excellent communicator, able to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams
Desirable Skills
Experience working with compressors
Experience with CAD tools such as SolidWorks or Inventor
Exposure to product optimisation activities
