Job Description

Battery Cooling – Lead Engineer (Contract)\n\nWe are recruiting an experienced Battery Cooling / Thermal Systems Lead Engineer to support the end-to-end design, development and launch of automotive cooling systems for a major OEM vehicle programme.\n\nThis is a hands-on engineering role with full component ownership, covering concept through production, working closely with suppliers, manufacturing and CAE teams.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n * Lead design and development of battery and engine cooling systems\n\n * Ownership of cooling components including radiators, heat exchangers, pumps, valves, fans, hoses and coolant circuits\n\n * Deliver prototype and production-ready engineering solutions\n\n * Manage suppliers and support RFQ/RFI activities\n\n * Ensure compliance with OEM processes, PLM standards and validation requirements\n\n * Drive cost, weight and quality optimisation (VAVE)\n\n * Maintain BOMs, DFMEAs, drawings and technical documentation\n\n * Support testing, issue resolution and build support activities\n\nRequired Skills & Experience\n\n * Strong background in automotive battery cooling / thermal management systems\n\n * Experience across concept to launch within an OEM or Tier-1 environment\n\n * Proven component ownership and design release experience\n\n * Advanced CAD capability using CATIA V5 / V6 (3DX experience beneficial)\n\n * Knowledge of GD&T, DFMEA, DFM/DFA and BOM management\n\n * Supplier coordination and programme delivery experience\n\nDesirable\n\n * BEV or hybrid vehicle programmes\n\n * Cost reduction and VAVE initiatives\n\n * NVH and CAE collaboration\n\nThis role suits a Lead or Senior Engineer who enjoys technical ownership and delivery-focused engineering in a fast-paced automotive environment.\n\nContract role | Competitive market rate\n\nApply now to discuss further
