We're working with a forward-thinking engineering company based in Derby to find a Lead Electronics Engineer who's ready to take the reins on technically demanding projects. This is a hands-on, leadership-level role for someone who wants to make a real impact.\n\nWhat You'll Be Doing\n\n * Leading end-to-end electronics projects: hardware, firmware, embedded systems, and control.\n\n * Taking ownership of designs from concept through to delivery and customer integration.\n\n * Mentoring junior engineers and apprentices, helping shape the next of talent.\n\n * Interfacing directly with customers to gather requirements and troubleshoot in the real world.\n\n * Driving technical decisions, risk assessments, and project planning.\n\n * You'll be supported by a skilled and collaborative team, but you'll also have the autonomy to lead, design, and deliver in your own style.\n\nWhat's In It For You\n\n * Competitive Salary: £50k to £65k depending on experience.\n\n * Work-Life Balance: 37-hour week with a Friday lunchtime finish.\n\n * Time Off: 28 days' holiday (including bank holidays), with 3 reserved for Christmas.\n\n * Room to Grow: Influence projects, innovate solutions, and take real ownership.\n\n * Tech You'll Care About: Work on legacy systems and bleeding-edge electronics, often on the same day.\n\nEssential\n\nWhat You'll Bring\n\n * Strong hands-on electronics experience across hardware and firmware.\n\n * Confident working with high voltages, power systems, and risk-sensitive environments.\n\n * Able to balance multiple complex projects with real-world constraints.\n\n * Excellent communicator- comfortable talking tech with engineers or project goals with clients.\n\nDesirable (but Not Essential)\n\n * Embedded C/C++/Python development (8- or 32-bit targets).\n\n * Firmware standards (MISRA) and debugging tools (JTAG, SWD).\n\n * PCB layout (e.g., KiCad), SPICE simulation, or high-speed digital design.\n\n * Experience with mission-critical or ruggedised equipment (rail, defence, aerospace).\n\n * Strong workshop/lab skills; soldering, harness building, machining, etc
