New Job Opportunity - Lead Electrical Engineer - 3 year Outside IR35 project - Manchester/HybridContract : 3-year project – Outside IR35Location : Manchester (Hybrid – 2–3 days per week in office)Project : Nuclear FEED – Building ServicesRole OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Lead Electrical Engineer to support a major Nuclear FEED project.Recent Nuclear Electrical Engineering experience is essential.The successful candidate will lead the electrical scope, providing technical leadership, coordinating deliverables, and ensuring compliance with project, client, and regulatory requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesProject Delivery & LeadershipLead delivery of the electrical scope.Manage schedules, MDRs, change control, and project reporting.Lead technical meetings and supervise the electrical engineering team.Support project estimates and CTR development.Electrical Design & EngineeringPrepare and review key electrical deliverables, including:Basis of DesignPower System StudiesEarthing & Lightning Protection CalculationsLoad SchedulesEquipment Specifications & DatasheetsSingle Line Diagrams (SLDs)Cable SchedulesSchematics and Layout DrawingsProcurement & Installation SupportPrepare equipment requisitions and technical bid evaluations.Support procurement of HV/LV equipment, transformers, motors, UPS systems, lighting, and associated electrical systems.Prepare installation scopes of work.Support site teams and liaise with DNOs and key stakeholders.Specialist ActivitiesHV Power System ModellingHV Protection StudiesEquipment Ageing & Obsolescence ManagementHazardous Area Equipment ConsiderationsQualificationsEssentialDegree in Electrical, Electronic, Control Engineering, or related discipline.Chartered Engineer (CEng), Incorporated Engineer (IEng), or working towards professional registration.Technical ExperienceEssentialRecent Nuclear Electrical Engineering experience.Strong electrical design and installation knowledge.Extensive experience within Nuclear or other highly regulated industries.Experience with HV/LV systems and Building Services design.Knowledge of UK legislation, standards, and CE Marking requirements, including ATEX, PED, Low Voltage Directive, Machinery Directive, and EMC Compliance.Understanding of risk management and HSE requirements.Personal SpecificationStrong leadership and communication skills.Experience managing electrical engineering teams.Customer-focused with a proactive approach.Committed to safe, compliant, and high-quality project delivery.Key RequirementsLead Electrical Engineering background.Recent Nuclear sector experience.Experience delivering FEED and detailed design projects.Ability to work in Manchester office 2–3 days per week.Company informationAt First Recruitment Group we understand just how important it is to secure the right people.
