Lead Electrical Engineer - Generator Systems (SMR) in Etwall

Provide technical expertise across the full lifecycle of standby and auxiliary power systems within a highly regulated, safety-critical engineering environment. The role covers delivery of complete generator system designs, including system architecture, sub-system development, equipment specification, equipment selection, integration, verification, and validation activities. \nWorking within multidisciplinary engineering teams, you will apply a structured systems engineering approach to develop robust and compliant electrical power solutions from concept through to final verified design.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nTranslate high-level plant and operational requirements into detailed technical specifications for generator and associated electrical power systems.\nCollaborate with process, mechanical, controls, safety, and electrical engineering disciplines to develop integrated system solutions.\nProvide technical leadership and engineering guidance for generator system design activities.\nDevelop and assess system architectures, equipment specifications, and design substantiation documentation.\nEnsure designs comply with applicable international standards and regulatory requirements, including IEC 63046, IEC 63332, and IAEA SSG-34 guidance.\nProduce verification and validation strategies, including inspection, testing, commissioning, and acceptance plans.\nSupport lifecycle engineering activities covering design, procurement, installation, operation, maintenance, and future upgrades.\nContribute to safety case development and technical interactions with regulators, independent assessors, and external stakeholders.\nSupport supplier and contract partner management activities, acting as an intelligent customer where required.\nProvide mentoring and technical support to junior and developing engineers.\n\nExperience & Skills Required\n\nStrong background in electrical power systems, standby generators, or critical power infrastructure.\nExperience delivering systems engineering activities within regulated or safety-critical industries.\nKnowledge of electrical system integration, equipment specification, and design assurance processes.\nFamiliarity with verification, validation, and requirements management methodologies.\nUnderstanding of relevant IEC and international engineering standards.\nAbility to work effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams.\nExperience supporting safety case or regulatory compliance activities is desirable.\nPrevious experience managing suppliers, contractors, or technical work packages would be advantageous.\n\nAdditional Information\n\nRole involves working across the full lifecycle of classified and non-classified electrical systems.\nOpportunity to act as a responsible designer and technical authority depending on project scope.\nResponsibility for delivery of defined engineering work packages and programme milestones.\nMay involve oversight of external engineering partners and technical review activities.\nHybrid working may be available depending on project requirements and site access needs
