MERITUS are recruiting for a Lead Control Systems Software Engineer to join our client based in Manchester to support the delivery of complex industrial automation and energy infrastructure projects.\n\nLEAD CONTROL SYSTEMS SOFTWARE ENGINEER - £NEG (ENQUIRE FOR DETAILS) - Manchester (HYBRID, 3 DAYS ON-SITE) - SECTOR: ENERGY / INDUSTRIAL AUTOMATION\n\nLead the design and development of industrial control system software solutions, primarily using Siemens PLC platforms.\nOversee full project lifecycle delivery including requirements capture, system design, software development, testing, and commissioning.\nProvide technical leadership and mentoring support to engineers across multiple project teams.\nInterface directly with clients and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery and technical alignment.\nSupport Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and on-site commissioning activities.\nContribute to both new-build and upgrade projects across power and energy infrastructure environments. \n\nSkillset / experience required:\n\nEssential:\n\nStrong experience designing and programming Siemens PLC systems including TIA Portal, S7, and PCS7.\nProven background delivering PLC, SCADA, and DCS control systems within industrial or energy environments.\nExperience working across full project lifecycles within control systems engineering.\nStrong understanding of IEC 61131 programming including Ladder Logic, Function Block, and Structured Text.\nExcellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to lead engineering teams.\nExperience supporting commissioning, testing, and client-facing project activities.Desirable:\n\nPrevious experience within the Energy, Power , Utilities, or other highly regulated sectors.\nExperience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams on complex automation projects.\nKnowledge of industrial networking and communication protocols.\nUnderstanding of functional safety and control system standards.\nExperience working within systems integration or engineering consultancy environments. \n\nBenefits:\n\n£Neg (Enquire for details)\n28 days holiday + bank holidays\n6.5% matched pension\nPrivate medical insurance\nFlexible / hybrid working options \n\nThis is an excellent opportunity to join a leading engineering and systems integration organisation delivering high-profile projects across the Energy sector.
